The Clarity- Creating Question To Ask Yourself When Writing Copy For Your Offer

In the world of online business, crafting compelling copy that captures your audience’s attention and drives them to take action is critical.

As a business owner, you likely already know the importance of this and you may already have some tips, tricks, and tools up your sleeve to make your copy sound good, but as a launch copywriter for 17+ years, one of the things that I always have to remind people of is that copy that simply “sounds good” isn’t the only goal.

Yes, you want your copy to grab your audience’s attention, but more than that you want it to move them into REAL action.

It’s easy to get caught up in what sounds good, because we often let ourselves believe that catchy copy will grab someone’s eye and they’ll be more inclined to buy.

But the truth is that catchy copy can often be confusing because you aren’t providing clarity that your audience really needs.

It’s for this reason that my motto is always: clear > cute. CLEAR copy is what will move your audience into action!

Even with this in mind, sometimes when you’re in the weeds of your business, it can be hard to determine what’s clear to you and what’s clear to your audience, so if you struggle with this, I have a VERY simple question you can ask yourself to determine if your copy provides enough clarity.

This applies to anything you’re writing, but especially when you’re writing copy for your offer!

One Simple Question To Ask Yourself To Write Clear Copy For Your Offer

Whether you’re writing a sales page, a social media post, an email, or any other form of copy in your business, there’s one deceptively simple yet incredibly powerful question you should always be asking: “So what?”

This question alone can hold the key to transforming ordinary copy into persuasive, engaging, and results-driven messaging.

Here’s why: pausing to read and reflect on your copy allows you to imagine that you’re reading as your ideal client and identify gaps.

During this reflection process, you can read what you’ve written and ask yourself the simple question: “so what?” meaning “why would my ideal client care about this?”

What does XYZ mean for them?

How does this benefit them?

What do they really want and does my copy communicate that?

Taking time to consider all of these things allows you to make sure that your messaging is on point and truly speaks to your ideal client – because remember, it’s not about YOU liking your copy, it’s about connecting with THEM!

The place that I love to ask this question the most is when I’m writing the features of my offer.

If you’ve ever launched a product or service, you can likely relate with getting so caught up in the details of the offer that you forget to tell people what those things actually mean for them.

It’s one of the easiest mistakes to make which is why I want to help you avoid it!

Asking the “so what?” question allows you to turn your features into BENEFITS that your clients care about even  more.

Here’s what this can look like in action:

Feature 1: I’ll set up systems for your business

So what? ⬇️

Benefit 1: All of the recurring tasks in your business will be automated

So what? ⬇️

Benefit 2: Tasks will always be done to the same standard

So what? ⬇️

Benefit 3: You can delegate easily

So what? ⬇️

Benefit 4: You can take vacation whenever you want while your business continues to run without you!

What they WANT is to be able to vacation whenever they want without feeling glued to their business, but what they NEED for that to happen is correct systems in their business.

Sell them what they want, give them what they need.

When you ask the “so what” question for all major parts of your copy, you’ll be able to get to the root of what will really connect with your audience and move them into real action with your offer.

Told you it was simple! But it really is so powerful and can change the game for how people interact with your marketing.
