4 Ways You Can Use ChatGPT To Level Up Your Marketing

ChatGPT and AI have been a hot topic of conversation in the marketing world this year and as someone that’s been in the marketing world for nearly 2 decades, of course I have thoughts of my own.

Throughout my career, there have been plenty of changes and additions to how businesses market and I’ve gotta say, we’ve come a long way!

Of course when the topic of AI comes up, people are curious about my opinions and when ChatGPT first entered the scene, I shared my general thoughts on LinkedIn – you can read that post here

Everything you read in that post still stands – but that’s not to say I don’t use the tool at all.

Because I do!

Overtime, I’ve learned HOW you can use it to level up your marketing in a way that still sounds like you and work more efficiently in your business.

Those are two things I can totally get behind. What I can’t fully agree with is using this tool as something that REPLACES all of the work it takes to churn out really effective marketing in your business.

I’m just not sure that’s possible! Can it help you? Sure. But it’s not an easy button.

In a recent LaunchFlow Accelerator cohort call, I shared 4 main ways that I personally use ChatGPT, so that my students could get greater insight on how they could too if they’re interested.

If you’re also trying to learn the most effective ways to use the tool in your business, this is for you!

4 Effective Ways You Can Use ChatGPT In Your Business

  1. Create titles and subject lines

Personally, this is one of my favorite ways to use ChatGPT. If you struggle with naming your programs, titling blog posts, writing hooks, or crafting subject lines, this tool really can be your best friend.

The key to really getting AI to support you in this way is all in the prompts that you give it.

For example, let’s say you’re launching a new program soon and want help nailing down your program name.

To get results that you might actually consider using, you’ll want to ask the “robot” to very specifically name your program and make sure you include all of the high level details of what’s included.

Additionally, you can also tell the robot what NOT to do.

In marketing, it’s no secret that there are a lotttt of words and phrases that are overused and if you’re like me, you want to avoid that so you stand out.

To make that happen, you can tell it to “avoid the obvious titles and overused cliches.”

Essentially, the more direction and details you provide, the better the outcome will be!

Using this method actually gave me the extra creativity boost I needed to successfully name my most recent program, LaunchFlow Accelerator.

It can help you do the very same thing when you feel stuck!

  1. Create project timelines and systems for your business

Early on, I discovered that this tool can actually be used as a personal assistant and I feel like this is something that could be leveraged much more.

If you struggle to create project timelines or proven systems in your business, consider using ChatGPT to do all of that thinking and creation for you.

When it comes to launching in your business, one of the key flows is WorkFlow which refers to the processes, timing, and support to make your launch run smoothly.

For a launch to really run well, there’s a lot of PLANNING required so that you give yourself enough lead time to get everything done.

This piece of the launch puzzle and be the thing that makes the MOST difference in how your launch feels.

Even though I do teach this to my clients and guide them on how to create a launch plan that allows for a relaxed and smooth sailing launch, sometimes this piece can be the hardest for them to achieve, especially if they aren’t detail oriented.

If you can relate, I want you to know that ChatGPT can actually help create this for you so that you don’t have to start from scratch!

In my opinion, it’s pretty genius.

For this to work well, again it’s all in the prompt that you give it.

For example, if you have a course launch coming up and you want to get your calendar in order so you know what needs to be done by when, you could say something like:

You’re an online business manager with a focus in project management. You are tasked with creating a detailed project plan for an upcoming online course launch.

Then you can provide all of the context and details it may need to create that project plan for you, such as the launch date, enrollment period, lead magnet details, name of the program, etc.

Anything and anyone involved in the launch, include in your prompt so that the robot can come back with a detailed timeline that you can then start with and adjust based on how it fits into your business!

Again, this is something I’ve personally used ChatGPT for and it serves as a really great starting point for getting organized when you feel disheveled.

  1. Create power words to add emotion to your writing

Next up is a tip coming from the writer in me.

When you’re writing copy of ANY kind, power words are important and it can be easy to get into the habit of using the same ones over and over.

If you want to mix up the way that you say things and get your audience’s attention in a new way, use the robot to provide some new ideas that you may not have thought of before.

For your prompt, you could simply say, “please provide a list of 20 power words to add more emotion to writing.”

OR if you want to take it even further, you can actually copy and paste a paragraph from your sales page, blog, or email and ask it to fill in the blanks for you.

As always, make sure that whatever you decide to use fits YOU and your voice, but this can be a great hack for when you’re stuck with writer’s block.

  1. Create stories for content

Storytelling is another big deal in marketing and I’m sure you’ve been given the advice to “add more stories” in your content.

If you like the idea of that, but can’t seem to apply it to your business, the robot to the rescue yet again!

For example, just recently I knew that I wanted to write an email where the theme was around second chances.

I had the IDEA, but I just couldn’t craft the message the way that I wanted, so I prompted ChatGPT by first saying, “you are a copywriter.”

That’s the ultimate hack for all of these – give it a ROLE, before you give it a task!

After that, I said, “give me 10 scenarios where someone is given a second chance. Be unique and think outside the box. Use stories and anecdotes from history or nature.”

With this prompt, I was able to successfully get the story I wanted to craft an email that would resonate with my audience.

So, if you’re struggling with storytelling in your content, it’s not that you’re a bad writer or you aren’t creative – it’s just that you need a little extra push to get the ideas into action!

Overall, I believe that ChatGPT can be a TOOL, not a replacement for your writing and marketing.

It can do a lot of good when you guide it to do so.

At the end of the day, nothing can replace you and your original ideas or words and that should never be the goal.

But if you can find a way to make your life easier as a business owner, why not go for it?
